Happy Passover everyone!
Tonight, we celebrate! We celebrate Jackie Robinson, Bubba Watson and the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
Thanks to Bob Kendrick of the Negro League Museum. Bob is like a walking encyclopedia of the Negro Leagues. He love of his work and the subject matter is infectious. Our conversation covered the Robinson’s legacy, the late-great Buck O’Neil, Hank Aaron, Larry Doby, Bill Veeck and so many more. We even discussed the tragedy in the Jewish community in his home town of Kansas City. Senseless hate felt by all.
With another Masters in the books, it was only right to bring in Nick Masuda of Golfweek Magazine. No one is better in breaking down a major better than Nick. We discuss Bubba’s dominance, the nature of the rising stars, the old-guard braving age and injury for solid finishes and the lack of Tiger Woods in Augusta. We could have spoken for hours but as you know, SILVERMAN: On Sports is only two hours.
I finished the show with the segment I like to call SILVERMAN: On Strikers. In this week’s episode, I replayed the post game interviews with three Strikers stars of the 2-0 win over the Ottawa Fury. Soccer is alive and well in South Florida with Mark Anderson, Darnell King and Stefan Antonijevic.
