Tonight there were two themes: character and baseball.
In between guests, I discussed how character is so very important in sports and how we are facing so many character issues with our athletes today. We discussed the issue. Everyone agrees it begins even before high school. Kids with sports talent have always been treated differently and it’s time to change that.
Bruce Cunningham from Fox 45 in Baltimore was my first guest. This was Bruce’s first time on the program and it won’t be the last. Great conversation and laughs about baseball past and present and our conversation regarding character was awesome. He brought up great points about Ray Rice and TMZ. I loved the breakdown the 2014 Orioles and how they were built and the job Buck Showalter has done skippering the club.
Dan Epstein is an author and baseball lover. We talked about today’s playoffs and jumped in the way-back machine and talked a lot about the Royals and Orioles of the 60s, 70s and 80s. Dan broke down the league series and made his predictions for the World Series and its champion.
If you talk about the O’s you must give equal time to the Royals. And if I am going to talk about KC, I am bringing in KCTV’s Michael Coleman. Coleman laid out the entire season for the blue and white as well as what the return to glory has done for the city of Kansas City.
We closed out the show with this week’s version of SILVERMAN: On Strikers and my guest Fort Lauderdale defender Justin Chavez. Chavo was awesome discussing Saturday night’s win over Carolina RailHawks as well the upcoming three game road trip. The first stop will be cross-state rivals Tampa Bay Rowdies. Justin also played Know Your Strikers. So if you want to know more about the Lads from Lauderdale, this is a must listen interview. I finished the interview talking about Chavez’s mother’s battle with breast cancer. I am donating $100 to her fight and if you would like to donate, please contact me or the Strikers office or simply go to: gofundme.com/supportjuanita.
