I know there is a soccer renaissance around the globe today but in the late 70s, early 80s the game on these shores may have been larger than it ever has been. The world’s best including Pele and George Best and so many others came to America and planted the futbol flag in the original NASL. 31 years after its demise Ian Plenderleith published his record of North America’s beautiful game in his “Rock and Roll Soccer.” Fascinating book and a fantastic interview.
